Step 4 - The Retreat
The business planning retreat normally occurs within a week after the strategic performance review. The objective of the business action planning retreat is to affirm the top performance improvement goals and draft individualized and aligned strategic plans, operational plans, and performance management plans for the president and senior managers. Additionally, the management team will identify resources required to effectively execute the action plan. From experience, these resources take the form of clarified roles and responsibilities, technology investments, defined key performance indicators, training, coaching, monitoring systems, and rewards/incentive/non compliance plans.
Key Components of the Retreat
- Affirm the prioritized performance improvement goals
- Facilitate business action-planning draft development session with you and your management team, focusing on the High Impact/Low Performance areas
- Clarify the business objectives and how they will be measured
- Identify strategies to demonstrate how the business will achieve the measured objectives
- Draft action plans that outline the work to be done in the next year
- Create a business plan that produces alignment, accountability, and results
